My 2008 Christmas Miracle

I work in retail and at the holidays it can be stressful and wearing on a persons faith in humanity. This holiday season was also the second without my husband who died suddenly in 2007 only 117 days after we were married. (Another entry for another day.) Even though that sounds like enough for one person to cope with it wasn't all of my concerns. I was worried about my brother who was stuck in Spokane, a 4 day detour because of the snow and poor weather we were having on his 39 hour return home from New Zealand after 17 months away. My car was stuck in the garage and I had family coming for dinner on Christmas day, I was working and I was suffering from the worst head cold of the year.
What to do… The decorations were drug down from the attic, I lugged the groceries home after work and the new Polar Express "O" gauge electric train with the whistle and smoke blowing stack arrived (before the snow) and was set up where the tree would go, but how to get a tree home was a puzzle. I called Garden Sphere, they are a great garden shop and nursery here in my neighborhood run by some of the greatest people! (and great year around product) It was the day before Christmas Eve and I asked, with great hope, "Do you have any trees left?" They had three left and they were 60% off!. I thought that the dog and I could at least drag it home in the snow from there but we didn’t have to! I asked, "Would you deliver it?" And Garden Sphere did deliver it right to my front door and they had even taken a fresh slice off the bottom of the trunk. Later that afternoon my Brother landed at my house with all of his luggage grabbed the dog and surprised me at work. The three of us walked home together in the snow and found the Christmas tree on the porch. Christmas Eve I was bundled in flannel pj's and a robe armed with tissue and a mug of hot tea ( I actually watched from the chair) and we decorated the cutest little noble fir, the train ran around the track under it and we had one of the best Christmas’ ever.

Thank you all at Garden Sphere so much for your compassion, reliable, steadfast and trustworthy business. Thank you for my Christmas Miracle and the boost to my faith in humanity!
Sincerely, Rebecca

The Dog, The Muse

The Dog, The Muse, The post graduation "I don't want to write a resume and look for a new job" time-gobbler and best four legged room mate ever!

Princess Buttercup (from the movie "The Princess Bride") as she is formally named is a boxer mix, born in Idaho Falls, Idaho on July 22, 2004. She is a sweet, athletic, obedient, 60 pound mutt who no longer fits in the basket. Her favorite toy is anything that squeaks and she would rather be with another dog but sticks with me as her pack leader. She's been in my home since she was 6 weeks old. She has been the reason that I have laughed out loud every day since she arrived at my home. I dedicate this Blog to her, "Bupper", the "D.O.G.", "Miss Wiggle Bottom Fart Butt", a constant reminder to live my life in the moment and that any given moment has the possibility for a game of squeaky toss! I hope you enjoy her and the events of this one woman's life a fraction as much we I do. It is never dull!
